Style, Innovation and Ease of Use the Keys to Geonav’s New Brand

VIAREGGIO, Italy – A blend of style and performance, the new G12 Multi-Function Display (MFD) will headline the introduction of Geonav®’s exciting new product line being unveiled at the 2009 Genoa Boat Show.  The G12 MFD includes a host of exclusive features including BlueLogic User Interface, first-in-the-industry DualFuel Cartography, built-in XD Sonar and an impressive stylish, ergonomic design.

“The G12 MFD is the centerpiece of a completely new appearance for Geonav – with a style that is surpassed only by its performance,” said Kelly Grindle, Vice President of Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics Group.  “Our 2010 line of navigation instruments has distinctive features that enhance the beauty of the yacht consoles in which they are installed. This is a big step away from the industry’s traditional ‘grey’ functionality.  Every Geonav system component is engineered with appearance, materials and technology that will position Geonav among the leaders in the marine electronics industry.”

The G12 MFD has a simple and modern user interface called BlueLogic.  Colourful graphics and animation make the G12 simple to operate and places it in a class of its own.  The G12 employs an ergonomic control panel with positive tactile controls that, with the use of smart menus, make operation intuitive.  A design highlight is the backlit LED rotary controls which provide attractive accents and better operation at night.

Part of the BlueLogic User Interface includes Geonav’s unique Pane Manager and HaloView Rotation, a feature that allows display panes and information to be customized to individual use.

With the industry’s most powerful embedded processor and high-speed memory, the G12 refreshes all views of charting, radar, sonar, AIS and sensor data in an instant.  The UltraClear Display provides superb clarity using a glass bonded XGA display and clean text fonts.  Viewing is also improved in all conditions from direct sunlight to the black of night.

The G12 is the first MFD to offer consumers a choice of cartography from the two leaders in electronic charting - Navionics® and C-MAP® by Jeppesen®.  It comes with attractive, built-in reference charts from both C-MAP and Navionics and highly detailed charts are available from their respective worldwide chart catalogs.

Another industry first is that it is the only MFD in its class, with built-in sonar.  XD Sonar  is a dual-frequency, 2kW transceiver (200/50 kHz) that provides precise readings up to 1,000 metres deep.  The BackTrack Data Recall feature allows boaters to easily review the sonar history.  Plus, with integrated waypoint storage, instant screen capture, sonar zoom and customizable colour palette, the XD sonar is fully equipped for fishing and cruising.

The G12 also offers the first ever waterproof front-panel USB access with its exclusive QuickConnect Data Port.  Sealed behind a water-tight door, the data port allows instant USB connection for easy data upload/download, plus two HDSD memory card slots for pre-programmed charts and waypoint upload/download.

Other new Geonav products which will be introduced at Genoa include:

  • GSC 110 AutoPilot: built on proven steering technology to provide reliable, precise steering control with a complementary industrial design and simple user interface.
  • HD EthernetRadar:  Overlay radar on 2D and 3D charts and acquire as many as 20 MARPA targets.
  • GTX AIS Transceiver: display the name, position, course speed, and other key details of up to 100 vessels with this sensitive transceiver.

“We are very excited to introduce the new Geonav products and brand image in the European market as our first step, with the next step to launch them globally in the near future,” added Grindle.
